I suppose I can't expect much for the money, but there are a couple of issues with this machine which I would have wanted to know about before deciding to purchase. I already have a Power Products (B&Q, cost under 20) detail sander but it is only a sander so I bought the draper for its sawing/scraping capabilities, however, there are design and quality issues with this product.

First the design: I find the Draper is slightly heavier and noisier than my PP detail sander. It also oscillates slightly more slowly. When it was delivered I tried a couple of sample cuts in softwood; it was much slower than I had expected. Then I tried out the scraper attachment to clean up about 3 sq mtrs of wall with old "Hard as Nails" applied in a zig-zag pattern over it. The Draper did the job but I'm not sure it was much quicker than a hand scraper would have been. Finally I tried it out as a sander and again it did the job but not quite as quickly as my sub-20 sander. That's when I noticed... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as it looks., 16 April 2011

When I got this tool it looked and felt well made. I thought I would test it cutting a bit of mild steel about 3mm thick. It was not a very big job and would have taken about 2 to 3 minutes to cut with a junior hacksaw. I fitted the correct blade and went to work. I would have liked to say it went through it like butter but it struggled to make an impression. Having read the instructions I did not force it and let it take its time. Unfortunately time ran out for it. After about five minutes there was a clunk and the blade stopped oscillating. I finished the job with the junior hacksaw. This could have been a Friday afternoon machine but I was not willing to try another one and returned it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the Money!, 8 Sep 2011

Having used the Fein multi master, which I Loved, this tool had alot to live up to.

Taking into account the price,I was not expecting anything near the quality of Fein. It was not up to the fein high standards, then like I said I wasnt expecting it to be. For the price however, for those of us that cant afford 300 for the multimaster, this is a very useful cheap tool.

Ill admit it doesnt have many accessories and it only came with 3 sanding sheets, but they fit on easily, stay in place and last well. I had a old fashioned dresser to sand down to bare wood, I used the Draper to get into all the little nooks and crannys, it did the job very well. The tools are held in place with a bolt that undoes with an allen key (unlike the fein that just has a lever release) this was pretty easy to use, although I did notice a washer fell out, looking on the instructions, I could not see where it came from, as it wasnt listed on the diagram?

    My only complaint,... Read more
