I understand that Silvercrest are not manufacturers but wholesalers and importers, so heaven only knows where they are made. However, for what it's worth, I find that the tool, as received, is not suitable for the task. I found upon a trial run that it planes deeper on one side than on the other. That was because the blades were not set correctly. This can be seen visually by sighting along the base. I measured the difference between the two ends of the blades - that is, the amount that they stick up above the outfeed table, and found that at one end the distance was 11 thousandths of an inch (11 thou"), and the other 5 thou". On the second blade the measurements were 12 thou" and 3 thou" respectively. This might not seem much, but it leads to very poor results, and I expect a new tool to work properly at least for a reasonable period without the need for immediate adjustment. Robust piece of equipment but in my example the base plate behind the rotating blade was not in the same plane as the plate in front of the blade. This made it impossible to keep the blade flat with the door edge producing an angled cut. Wish I'd spent the extra money on a Bosch or Black and Decker.

Wonderful value for the money. It helped me out of a big problem at home. It obviously has its limitations but what do you expect for the money. A good buy for those tricky jobs
